A casual weekend WIW and two K/R

Hi all! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's close to 100 degrees here already. This is my typical weekend uniform of cut offs and a cute airy top. I'll be wearing lots of variations of this over the next three months so I thought I'd share it with all of you.

The next two dresses are up for consideration. The first is a variation of the Jones Leaf dress from the fall. This is more like a kaleidoscope print. It is very pretty. It's definitely the longest dress in my closet right now. The first picture is the original length. The second picture is a possible hemming length -- excuse the silly face -- it's hard to stay in this position to hold the length.

The last dress is Kari's coral Tahari dress. It was available in a petite so I thought I would give it a go. My husband and kids all gave it the thumbs up and I am leaning toward keeping it. This could be my summer formal dress for work.

I could keep one or the other or both. I need your honest opinions! No hard feelings! Thanks in advance!

Keep both dresses! They both fit well and look great on you -- and you need a lot of dresses in the summer, right? The coral one is my favorite on you.

I prefer a slightly longer length on the first dress than the one you're proposing.

I love your casual cut offs look Rita! That's what I live in on weekends in the hot weather too. Those sandals are fantastic BTW.

The coral dress is an absolute STUNNER on you - keep, keep KEEP!!! The fit, length and colour are absolutely perfect.

I also really like the kaleidoscope dress - but at the longer length. It seems more current to me at that length and shows the whole shape of the dress a bit better IMO.

BTW - your yard is absolutely GORGEOUS!

The coral dress is a 10+!! I'm not 100% sure the blue one is doing your midsection any favors.

    Love the casual shorts look!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Rita, I'm so glad you posted your cutoffs and top outfit. That's my MOTG look, too, especially when the heat really climbs.

As for the dresses, I hope you will keep both! They are terrific. My eye must really be adjusting because I actually prefer the first dress as a midi, particularly when you are wearing those nude sandals. (Hey, by the way, what ARE those??)

I think it would look good with black sandals or shoes, too, or even with boots to transition to fall.

I LOVE the Tahari dress on you. It is just lovely. It looks dressy yet relaxed.

Kari's dress is perfect - please keep! The first dress is nice and I prefer a longer length with heels.
    You rock those shorts!

  • Tanya replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous dresses, please keep both! I also like the blue one at the longer length.

    Very cute casual outfit.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

I really like both dresses. I think the longer length works on the first dress, but I think I would really like to see it with dark heels because of the darker colors and your hair as well. I vote keep both.

You look fantastic in the coral wrap dress, so I hope you keep this dress. The blue dress is a great style, but I don't think it flatters you like the wrap.

Keep both-great fit and beautiful prints! &Like your casuals from firts pictie, too! :-)

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

The coral dress is drop dead gorgeous on you. It's a 10+. I like the blue dress at the longer length--it is elongating and elegant at that length. How lucky you are to find two dresses! Of course, I love seeing everyone's casual look. That ruffle top is adorable with the jean shorts--so fab!

Nice uniform. Yep, summer is here,
I love the Tahari dress , I vote keep on that one. The blue one is not bad but pales in comparison to the coral dress. I vote return on that one.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

Love the Tahari. Something about the blue is bothering me - the neckline or maybe because it's so straight up and down ?- as it just isn't as fabulous as the coral.
I like your causal look and agree that your deck and yard is looking so fabulous.

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

Definitely keep the tahari dress - it's stunning on you! I'm not crazy about the blue one and would return it - something about the print placement combined with the clinginess seems to be making you look thicker than you are in the middle.

Love your summery ruffle tank! That minty color is lovely on you.

Great casual look - perfect for a hot day! Another vote to definitely keep the coral Tahari dress - that looks fantastic on you. I'm not as fond of the other one on you - the print is pretty but it's not as flattering as the Tahari dress.

Great casual look and fab sandals! I would keep the coral dress (looks great on you) but not the blue one (not as flattering).

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

I I adore the coral one. The color is fab, the length and cut is perfect and it whittles your waist beautifully! The blue is pretty but not nearly as nice.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

It's 50 and pouring here, so I'll try not to comment on your sunny pictures with bitterness.

I love the fit of the coral one on on you. KEEP!

The blue one is actually my favorite in terms of color, but the neckline reads as less summery to me.

Cute summer outfit (sitting here in fleece and flannel...).

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Love he loaty flirty ruffles in photo 1. I prefer the firt dress with the longer hem & thumbs up for the coral dress.

  • marianna replied 11 years ago

Everything is perfect! I'd keep both dresses for sure.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Your garden looks as fab as you do, Rita! The clams outfit and wrap dress are 10s - but I'm wondering if you need to go up a size in the blue dress. I do love that on you too.

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

I like both dresses! The coral one is stunning on you and I love the blue one at the longer length. I second Scarlet's idea of wearing it with darker heels.

  • replied 11 years ago

The coral wrap dress is unbelievable on you -- SO FAB, lady! Keep! And I love your cute little summer shorts outfit too. I'm not feeling the blue dress.

  • modgrl replied 11 years ago

Thank you all so much for your considered and thoughtful responses. I am taking each of your comments very seriously as I decide whether to keep these dresses. It looks like the coral dress is a definite yes. I am going to be posting an updated blue dress thread shortly for further consideration. The shoes are Dr. Scholl's wedges from last year from DSW. They are ok - not killer hot but comfy and cute enough.

I'm very happy with how my deck is shaping up. I'm growing some flowers, foliage, strawberries and rosemary this year. I've even found a cute little gnome to protect my garden corner.

  • citygirldc replied 11 years ago

The coral looks great on you and cinches you right at the waist. I love a 3/4 sleeve too.

  • annagybe replied 11 years ago

The coral dress is great on you.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

I prefer the coral dress on you by far. It looks fantastic!

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

The coral dress is a 10! Love the cute top and cutoffs on you. I actually like the blue dress and nude wedges on you too! Not as spectacular as the coral one, but nice print and you look great in blue. I like the length as is.

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Oh my gosh, the Tahari dress is *amazing* on you.
I'm so glad it comes in petite sizes so you can be my dress twin!
I love the top in #1 quite a lot as well.
