WIW Custo Barcelona inspiration with ankle strap of controversy

I know everyone is so distracted by NAS right now but I am still in major hug my closet mode. I spent the better part of last year shopping like crazy and I am having so much fun with all of the new combinations every morning. I am not even tempted by NAS --well just a little -- since I already feel like I don't give my clothes enough love. That is a good argument for a smaller more streamlined wardrobe for me. Perhaps having too many choices isn't always the best.

Today I decided to try debombing my turquoise seamed skirt by pairing it with a hi/lo pb blouse and ankle strap sandals. I know that ankle straps with bare legs are controversial, especially for someone who is verrrrry petite, but I just thought if I rocked it with enough verve and attitude, it would erase all doubt. What do you think?

Sassy and chic. You look great, Rita!

    I love this!

And I know how you feel about the NAS. I have been very picky, too!

Totally works for me. Looks great on you. Love the verve and attitude.

You look very stylish and yet easy, effortless, breezy and summery. I love this.

No hint of stumpification, if that's what you were hinting at --- I think there's so much vertical movement here from the ruffle to the seamed straight skirt and down that this is not even a consideration. And the neat, trim fit as well as the bare arms also make a difference and keep the eye going up and down. Also? excellent bookending of your fab hair.

You should hug your closet--it is super fab Rita! Love the sandals (I don't see any problem with ankle straps on you), and the tonal turquoise skirt and bag. Great color combo!

I like this Rita. The footwear reads very modern, which is sometimes a better choice than just flattering. And yes, you are rocking it. Have a great day and give your fab closet a hug from me, too. ;)

I think you accomplished your goal with this. I love the entire look on you including the ankle strap sandals that really edge it up in the right way. I'm also trying to not purchase at NAS since I have a very deep closet at the moment of stuff I love too.

I love it and thing the shoes look great.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

Oh no, the ankle straps are a must. They spice things up.

You know I'm paranoid about short legs, but I think this looks great! The ruffles and fit of the top give an idea of where your waist is, so your legs look long to me even with the thick ankle strap. Plus, the shoes do add that modern, architectural edge. Love the tonal turquoise, too.

Love it. And you and I must have been on a similar wavelength today. I have on black bermudas, my floral Karen Millen tank, white Zara moto vest, and I originally had on my olive Antelope sandals with thick horizontal ankle straps and black soles. I wimped out at the last minute and put on my black Gentle Souls wedges instead, which are probably more "flattering" but not as edgy. I now kinda wish I'd gone for the bolder choice.

Rita, I think this is beautiful! I'm going to show this to my sister, who just bought this skirt but has a much more casual and arty style than I do.

  • modgrl replied 11 years ago

@Kari, don't you have the seamed skirt in this color too?

  • Aziraphale replied 11 years ago

Looks great! Those ankle strap shoes are fab. I think the fact that your skirt exposes your knees is key -- it shows the shape of your legs so they don't look "cut off", despite the thick black strap at the ankle.

  • Sylvie replied 11 years ago

Well, *I* like it. It's a great outfit. Simple yet interesting.

Great outfit! I hear you on needing to show enough love to the clothes we already have - I try to remind myself of that every time I am tempted to add to my closet.

Beautiful color of the skirt and I love the monochromatic top/shoes in combination with the bright colors.

No controversy from this shortie - I die for a good ankle strap. So rocker-chic with this look!

  • RoseandJoan replied 11 years ago

Oh my that is a great look. I think the hemline of the skirt and shoes are in perfect harmony and your legs look perfectly proportioned.

  • Ornella replied 11 years ago

I love this Rita. It simply works.

And I love tour thought process about your wardrobe :-)

Love this, Rita! I like the look of the shoes -- I see the cool shoes, not stumpy legs. The rest of the look is classic with a good dose of modern, and an equal dose of fun.

  • Claudia replied 11 years ago

This is a great outfit! LOVE the shoes -- YLF!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

One of my all time favourite outfits on you Rita! Gorgeous and I have not issue with the sandals Proportions are perfect. You look just so stunning and chic.

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

I am on Team Ankle Strap so I see nothing remotely controversial here :)!! This is a gorgeous outfit from top to bottom. You look perfect: professional and polished but slightly edgy.

Your closet is hugging you back! Cute!

  • citygirldc replied 11 years ago

Okay Rita, if you can do the ankle strap (which the whole outfit looks great), then I must try on ankle strap shoes with some of my outfits too.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Another yay for the ankle strap from a fellow shortie! I think they really look fabulous with this outfit. I also love that your purse is blue... but not the same blue as your skirt.

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

    This is SUPER cute!
