WIW some closet orphans and golden oldies

This was a bit of an unconventional week for me. I trotted out some golden oldies and closet orphans and wore them all in ways that pushed me out of my comfort zone.

1) This top is from Cache, it is totally over the top with hot pink and gold chains floating down the front. I tried to rein it in with a black jacket and slacks, but I couldn't resist adding square gold clip on earrings to match the chains.

2) This dress is over 10 years old but I never tire of it. I always have to mess with the neckline because it's pretty low. I've tried fashion tape and safety pins, but this is the first time I popped a tank under it. I like it best by itself, but it was a little chilly so I added a cardi. Does it work? I hate the look of the tank top from the back, it totally ruins the dress, but no one saw it since I kept my cardigan on all day. Are the chunky wedges too frumpy?

3) Thrifted Chaiken dress, closeups of chunky gold jewelry and lela rose for payless laser cut booties. They're buckling because I'm bending over to take the picture. They actually lay very nicely on my foot. I've been trying to figure out how to wear these shoes. It was love at first sight but they've been a challenge to style. Does this work or is it too shortening? They were fine for most of the day although I was very cautious walking across the marble floor at the train station.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I really like it all. The only thing I would change would be to wear a shoe that either has a lower vamp or is close to your skin color with the dress in 2/3/4. I really like the simple elegance of the dress in 5. I love the booties and couldn't believe it when I read payless. Really nice.

#5 is such a beautiful picture! Your kids are super cute and they have an edgy mom with killer style!

Thanks for the sweet words. They're always jumping into my WIW's, they think it's so funny that I take pictures of my outfits every day.

I love them all too. #1 is fab and chic. I love 2 but agree about a lower vamp shoe or even a lower contrast shoe. 3 is perfect and I love the laser cut booties.

I think the top in #1 is fab! very MaryK-like :-)
I also like both dresses but agree on the shoes in #2 - too clunky and high-vamp and high contrast. I stay away from this kind of shoes as they make my legs even chunkier than they are...

5 is my favorite too. Especially with the cute kiddos! And I like how you styled the blouse in 1.

I seriously love the shoes in #2-#4, but I agree they don't work with that dress. Your thrifted dress is amazing on you.

You look so good. I agree with above comments about the shoes in 2-4. Very cute kids! You must be proud.

I agree with the ladies, dress in #2 is great but the shoes are a little chunky/contrasty/high vampy. Totally love that last dress and those shoes--fantastic! And oh my goodness, those sweet kids are too much, adorable!!!!

I love pic#5! Gosh, you guys are all adorable! I'm just agreeing with the consensus so far, love everything but the shoes in #2-#4. The dress is lovely on you and those cut-out booties are cute! I think they work with the dress because they aren't super high contrast. Bet they'd look killer with some skinny jeans.

I love all of these! The print on the dress is great. Could you find a low back tank top maybe? I agree that the dress might work better with lighter or more open shoes, they seem heavy with the dress and cut your leg line. I like the shoes in themselves though. #5 is gorgeous, even more amazing because it's thrifted and payless! Beautiful!

GREAT looks! The two dresses are absolutely wonderful on you, I love both of them. The thrifted one is perfection - lucky you to find such a gem! I definitely agree with the other commenters on the shoes in 2-4.

Cute outfits and I LOVE those Payless booties. What a great find.

They are all fun outfits, but 1 and 3 are my favorites! Congrats on pushing your comfort zone and wearing some orphans!

I like all of these looks. How great to have a 10-year old dress that is still up-to-date - I love it! (I agree about the shoes) You kiddos are adorable!
