WIW shortie does volume over volume

Following Deborah's new silhouette yesterday, I thought I would try my own version of volume over volume. These are the pants I haven't shortened yet. I think I am going to take in just a bit in the front of my foot, not all the way around. Vince Camuto Rack pants, Angie recommended gianetta blouse, target wedges (gold bag not pictured).

I think you look fantastic! LOVE. That blouse is beautiful, too. Very nice look on you.

You look fab! impressively looong legs!

I support you on shortening the trousers a little in the front

This is just so chic, elegant and classy looking Rita! That blouse is absolutely gorgeous - what beautiful colours and lovely drape. And your legs looks a mile long in those trousers. I agree a smidge up is probably a good thing. You can definitely pull this look off fellow "shortie"!

Love your petite version of volume + volume. It's reigned in, flattering, and not overwhelming you in any way. That top is gorgeous on you Rita!

This look is so great on You! Like the pants and the blouse, too. And, what a fab ideea to shorten them only on the front! Do you (or others) do that freqvently???? I never dared to hem my pants unevenly, even if sometimes this would have been the best thing.
Oh well, I learned something this time, too.

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Lyn67, I've done it a few times before. It is a trick that tailors use with men's suits all the time. I want the hem to come all the way down to the floor in back but still not be too long in the front.

    Wow, beautiful, Rita!!!

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

Beautiful, Rita, and inspiring to the rest of us height-challenged who want to try more volume.

  • celia replied 12 years ago

Neat trick with the pants Rita.
I love this silhouette on you, the blouse is beautiful and you look long and lean as usual.

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

Oh, wow. The volume is in perfect proportion to little you... it's great. That blouse is a wonderful look on you too. How are the temps right now? Do you need another layer?

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Una, it's 74 degrees outside, no other layers required! It was 89 yesterday. Just the usual mid-atlantic weather roller coaster....

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Wow, Rita, this is SOOOO great. I adore it. And despite the dark colour it looks cool. All that floaty-ness. Definitely wear those trousers as much as you can!

  • Diana replied 12 years ago

Love it! You look really tall here. =)

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

inspiring volume on volume look! the idea of asymmetrical pant hemming i had never heard before and it is fascinating... thanks!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

So polished and chic! What a lovely blouse and the fit for both the blouse and the pants is perfect! I had heard that trick about hemming slightly shorter towards the front but have never tried it!

  • Kiwichik replied 12 years ago

You wear this well and your proportions look perfect.

  • MsMary replied 12 years ago

My thumbs are way up! You really look like one tall drink of water in this!

  • Heather replied 12 years ago

Gorgeous, Rita. I dig the pops of neon. :D

  • morethanbeige replied 12 years ago

Yay, it can be done! You SO pull this look off, modgrl! Fabulous. And inspiring for us fellow shorties!

  • san replied 12 years ago

Beautiful outfit. The fit is perfect and the colors in the blouse look so good with your dark hair.
I remember the angled pants hem being popular in the 70's.

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Fabulous from head to toe! I love that top, and the pants look so elegant on you. Yay for giving the V on V look a go--it looks beautiful on you, truly.

  • Mo replied 12 years ago

Well done! Just the right amount of drape without getting overwhelmed. Love it!

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Mo, Una and Jonesy, can you believe it? This from the girl with the poison eye for volume and waist surrender!

  • Girl X replied 12 years ago

Love it! You know you've done it perfectly when you manage to look as slim in volume as you would in something fitted.

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

Love this! Why do the pants not read as volume to me? Or volume in the best way? Whatever it is, it works.

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

This totally works~ I think because the blouse's volume is reined in and a column of color is created. Pants look PPL to me as is but hard to tell exactly as they are black. Curious to see the Target shoes you are wearing.

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Fab Rita! What a gorgeous blouse, too!

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

Rita, I remember when you said (a while back) that you felt 5 months pregnant in voluminous tops, so you just didn't want to go there :). I think you have conquered your fears with this look!! Not a hint of a bun in the oven with this one! You look elegant and chic.

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

Rita, this looks wonderful. That blouse is just beautiful. Its funny because i tried the same style blouse over my wide legs pants but wasnt' sure as it seems to add alittle to my hip area, however yours doesn't. This is a really fresh and smart and creates a very slender line. Did you wear this to work?

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

Deborah - yes, I wore this to work. It was a great success. I felt very tall and long today. Even my uber stylish boss commented that she liked my blouse... which is nice but I was planning to wear this outfit to my review next week so I'm going to have to find something new to wear now.

  • Carole replied 12 years ago

Tis is a beautiful silhouette for you. I love the blouse, the perfect compliment to your slacks.

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

Rita, a great outfit there! I think the toning dark colours and the drapey quality of both fabrics is really helping with skimming and figure flattery, as well as adding height --- a lot of which I think comes from the blouse's vertical folds too! I'm liking how the curves in that pattern tie in with your hair's texture too!

  • Scarlet replied 12 years ago

This looks great! That top is fantastic.

  • christy replied 12 years ago

I really like this on you! Your legs look a mile long here and that blouse is fantastic.
