WIW and now for something completely different

We're going to see a friend's band at a local performance space. I wanted to wear something a little different. I tried a dress with jeans and nude boots. I need blond hair to bookend today. Hope everyone is having a great night.

WOW! I love this on you Rita! I think the nude boots work just fine - even with your dark hair. The lighter colour in the dress is all you need for bookending. Your proportions with the short over long is fabulous! Have a great time - you look HOT!

Awesome! Dress over pants is one of my favorite looks and you have done this really well. I think the softer color in the dress bookends the boots and your proportions here are good. Have avgreat time.

No blond needed--The dress pattern and boots tie together perfectly and the look is very balanced. Thumbs up! Have a great evening out!

It works. I think the white cuffs on your blazer helps.

LOVE! Channeling a little UWP here!

Rita, I like what you've done here, with the cute dress and jeans and I love your boots! What a fun night you've got going. Have fun and know there will be heads turning!

Love this! Boots totally work with the light colors in the dress.

Rita, you're starting to go all dark and edgy! The outfit is definitely hot :)

More love here. Your fabulous hair makes it work. Perfect for a concert.

I LOVE THIS. And you do *not* need blonde hair!

So fun! You look completely ready to rock out. Love the whole combo of dress, jeans and boots

You SOOOOO do NOT need blonde hair for this look! The dress does it for you perfectly! You look fabulous! And what a creative idea. Hope you have a great time.

Welcome to the dark side!! I am so jealous of your dress and jeans outfit. Hope you don't mind if I blatantly steal your dress. Will be keeping my eye our for one just like it in Halifax, tomorrow.

    Both thumbs up

    Julie

In your own words, sweet! I'm glad you took this risk and think it paid off nicely. And as everyone's saying, no need for lighter hair--the colors all harmonize so well here.

Yesss this looks fabulous Rita! No need to worry about being blonde, you have plenty of lightness in the dres and the blazer cuffs :) You should totally wear this again!

You look terrific! Not every great outfit has to be bookended, you know? Looks at Angie's recent wedding outfits --- her hair is neither red nor black/grey, right?

ETA: Also, with nude boots, the proportions are like clamdiggers under a dress/tunic plus nude/low-contrast shoe to my eye.

Totally fab. I'm often on the fence about a dress over pants but this one looks great. I like that the dress picks up on the hair color and the boot color. Great outfit.

Love this, Rita! I'm all for dress over pants. You look amazing!

  • christieanne replied 12 years ago

Wow! Love that cropped jacket added in to complete the look.

  • Scarlet replied 12 years ago

I think the boots pick up the colors in your dress, so you don't need to be blonde :) I would really like this outfit with black legging too.

  • Janet replied 12 years ago

Like dianthus, I'm not always a fan of the dress with jeans look, but I really like what you've done here. Hope you had a great time!

Black leggings would have been nice but maybe a bit too dressy. I already felt pretty overdressed amongst the arty post-college and musician crowd. I could take it down a notch with black boots but that felt like it would go against the spirit of where I am heading style wise these days. Thanks for your nice comments, they mean a lot!!
